  • Fire resistant tongs, spatula, and fork.

  • Grilling at temps that are too high.

Different Fires for Different Foods

  • Single level. Uses one layer of coals evenly across the grill.
  • Two-level. You’ll get areas of high and low heat.
  • Even indirect. You’ll get even heat on the sides and a cool spot in the middle.

What To Grill Depending on How Much Time You Have

  • Shrimp: About 3 minutes
  • Steak (1-inch thick): About 8 minutes for medium-rare
  • Boneless Chicken: About 12 minutes
  • Pork Tenderloin: About 20 minutes
  • Chicken Wings: About 30 minutes
  • Whole Chicken: About 90 minutes
  • Smoked Ribs: About 4.5 hours
